Andrew Alldred
 
Andrew is Clinical Director for Diagnostic Services at Harrogate Foundation Trust including responsibility for Radiology, Pathology and Pharmacy Services. He is also Director of Pharmacy.
Andrew trained and graduated from Nottingham University and qualified in 1991.
 
He has worked extensively in hospital practice for the last 17 years. He moved to Leeds in 1995 and when the Leeds Trust merged, was appointed lead Clinical Pharmacy Manager. In 2001, he was appointed to a Regional Specialist Post as Drug Contract Manager for Yorkshire NHS Trusts, before moving to Harrogate in 2005.
 
Andrew is chair of the Yorkshire and Humber Pharmaceutical Purchasing Consortia, Vice Chair of the Yorkshire Cancer Network Chemotherapy Group and Chair of the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists Practice Committee. Andrew has a long history of interest in risk management particularly around purchasing safer medicines, the development of medicines management services and organisational and leadership development.

Martin Astbury
 
Martin is a community pharmacist working for Morrison's in the Northwest of England.
 
Martin joined the RPSGB council 5 years ago waving the banner for Joe Bloggs pharmacist, insisting that frontline pharmacists must be involved at the highest levels of the RPSGB.
 
Last year at the age of 38 Martin was immensely proud to be elected as the youngest Vice-President of the RPSGB, in memorable history.
 
Martin studied at The Square where he was President of the student union. After leaving university he did his pre-reg with Boots and was a member of the BPSA executive.
 
Martin's first job after qualifying, where he stayed for 10 years, was for a small family run business called Chanins Pharmacy. He was then a locum until he took up his present job with Morrison's.
 
Martin has a wife, Louise, a pharmacist working in north Wales and two children Libby 5 and Sophie 8.

David Carter
 
David was elected to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Council in May 2006 and sits on the Law & Ethics committee (as Chairman), the community pharmacy group committee and is a Branch/Regional network sponsor.
 
David is Chairman of Gateshead and South Tyneside Local Pharmaceutical Committee and has been a committee member of the Sunderland & District Branch RPSGB since 1993 - where he has held posts of Chairman and Secretary. He is also a committee member of the Border Region RPSGB, and held the post of Secretary of this committee for 10 years - until his election to the Council.
 
In his day-job, David is a "grass roots" community pharmacist. He works as the managing director and superintendent of DL Carter & Son Ltd, an independent family run community pharmacy in South Tyneside.

Steve Churton
 
Steve received his degree in pharmacy from Manchester University in 1979 and registered with the Pharmaceutical Society in 1980.
 
Throughout his career in community pharmacy, Steve has held a variety of professional and senior management roles.
 
Steve is currently head of professional practice at Boots. Here he is responsible for clinical governance and the safe and effective provision of professional services by 4,000 pharmacists and members of their professional support teams from 2,500 community pharmacies in the UK.
 
Having been a member of Council since 2007, Steve was elected as president of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in June 2008. He is committed to leading the profession and to bringing about the establishment of a new professional leadership body, as the regulatory responsibility of RPSGB transfers to the General Pharmaceutical Council in 2010.

Andrew Gush
 
Andrew Gush, of Bridgend, is a Pharmacy business consultant and locum pharmacist.
 
From 1987-2003 he was the owner of 8 pharmacies. He has been a Board member of the National Pharmaceutical Association and of the Chemist Defence Association.
 
Andrew has represented pharmacists in Wales as a member of 'Community Pharmacy Wales and 'Community Pharmacy South East'. He has recently been re-elected to the office of Treasurer of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.

Graeme Hall
 
Graeme registered with the RPSGB in 1986 having completed an undergraduate degree at the School of Pharmacy, University of Sunderland 1982-1985.
 
Graeme spent his pre-registration year at Newcastle General Hospital and gained a Clinical Diploma at the University of Newcastle Medical School / School of Pharmacy, University of Sunderland in1989.
 
Graeme is currently the Assistant Chief Pharmacist Clinical Services, University Hospitals of Leicester where he is responsible for the quality and development of clinical pharmacy services. He is also pharmacy lead for the acquisition and deployment of an electronic prescribing and administration system and emergency planning for avian flu pandemic.
 
Graeme is Professional Secretary of the United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association and a steering group member of the Leadership Development Group, UKCPA / Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists.
 
Graeme is also an external examiner for the School of Pharmacy, University of London and is qualified as an NLP practitioner.

Peter Jones
 
Peter studied pharmacy at the Robert Gordon School of Pharmacy.
 
From 1977 - 2000 Peter held various managerial appointments with Boots the Chemists in Guildford, Bridgend, Portcawl and Carmarthen.
 
Peter was Professional Development Manager for South Wales, 2000 - 2004. He has served on various committees in Wales, and is currently chairman of the Welsh Board of the RPSGB, and previously was chair and vice-chair of its predecessor the Welsh Executive. He has also been an active member of the public affairs sub group over a number of years.
 
Peter is currently vice-chairman of Community Pharmacy Wales and chairman of the Mid and West region, He served on the previous LPCs for the area.
 
Peter is a member of the Welsh Pharmaceutical Committee and previously a member of the Welsh Committee for the Professional Development of Pharmacy.
 
Peter has been a member of a number of substance misuse committees and NHS Direct multi-professional and pharmacy subgroups.

Professor Howard McNulty
 
Howard McNulty is the General Secretary of the Institute of Pharmacy Management, Visiting Professor at the University of Strathclyde and External Verifier for Scottish Qualifications Authority.
 
Howard is a Fellow of the RPSGB, and has been a Committee member of Glasgow and West of Scotland branch since 1983, previously chairing the Bristol Branch. He was a founder Member of Scottish Pharmacy Board of RPSGB in 2007.
 
Howard was a management consultant for 10 years for clients in the NHS, the civil service, and industry. He was the first pharmacy adviser to the Scottish Prison Service in 2000 and previously Chief Administrative Pharmaceutical Officer for Greater Glasgow Health Board 1989 - 97 with several years as their Superintendent pharmacist.
 
In Bristol in 1975, he established a Regional Drug Information Centre, becoming the founder chair of UK Drug (now Medicine) Information Services.
 
He trained at the University of Bradford and is married with three children, one a pharmacist another a pharmacy technician.

David Miller
 
David Miller is the hospital pharmacy representative on the English Pharmacy Board of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. He is currently employed as Chief Pharmacist at City Hospitals, Sunderland and his professional interests revolve around workforce issues and patient safety. David is also Vice-President of the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists (Unite).
 
He graduated from Cardiff in 1981 and worked in a number of hospitals in the North West of England before moving to the North East as a Chief Pharmacist in 1990. He completed his Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy at Bradford in 1985 and his MBA with the Open University in 1993.
 
Although from a clinical pharmacy background in hospitals, his wife ensures he maintains some understanding of community pharmacy practice.

Jane Nicholson
 
Jane graduated from Chelsea (Kings) School of Pharmacy and, after two years in formulation development work at Beecham Research Laboratories, joined E.R. Squibb to establish a registration department.
 
Jane is a past President of the Industrial Pharmacists' Section and Vice-President of the Fédération Internationale Pharmaceutique. She has served on several trade association (A.B.P.I.) committees and study groups and is a Fellow of the T.O.P.R.A.
 
Jane has been a member of the Industrial Pharmacists' Group Committee for the past 20 years, and for three years was Chair of the Group.
 
Jane was a member of Council of the Pharmaceutical Society (1987-94) and past Chairman of the Science and Practice Committees.
 
Jane was appointed as a member of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency's (MHRA) Ministerial Advisory Board (1991-2001) and was a member of the Standing Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee (1996).

Doctor Rose Marie Parr
 
Rose Marie Parr undertook her pharmacy undergraduate degree and postgraduate degrees at the School of Pharmacy at Strathclyde University Glasgow and her Doctorate in Education at Glasgow University.
 
Rose Marie has worked in hospital pharmacy in the 1980-1990s in various posts in Lanarkshire Health Board and Forth Valley Health Board areas.
 
In 1993 she became the Director of Postgraduate Pharmacy Education for Scotland known as SCPPE (or SKIPPY) to pharmacists. SCPPE had a remit for all postgraduate education for pharmacists in the NHS.
 
In April 2002 SCPPE was brought together with other professional educational groups into the special health Board, NHS Education for Scotland (NES), which has a remit for all NHS staff in Scotland. Rose Marie Parr is currently the Director of Pharmacy for NHS Education for Scotland.
 
Rose Marie is designated a national specialist in post qualification pharmaceutical education and is a member of the SEHD National Pharmaceutical Forum. She is also currently Chair of the Scottish Pharmacy Board of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) and a designated Fellow of the RPSGB.

Kirit Patel
 
Mr Kirit Patel is founder and chief executive of the Day Lewis Pharmacy Group. He is a key and influential player in the pharmacy profession. This was recognised in 2005 when he was awarded the MBE for services to pharmacy in the South of England.
 
He is a past Treasurer of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and past Chairman of the Board of Management for the National Pharmacy Association - and has served as a member of the prestigious Small Business Council of the Department of Trade and Industry and also on the Better Regulation Task Force. He has recently completed an Advanced Management Programme at Wharton, Philadelphia.
 
Kirit and his brother Jayanti acquired their first two pharmacies in May 1975. Over the past three decades of trading, the Day Lewis business has steadily expanded, through both organic and acquisition growth and investment, and now operates 165 Day Lewis pharmacies outlets across the UK, employing 1,269 staff.

Ian Simpson
 
Ian Simpson has been Chief Executive of the College of Pharmacy Practice for nearly seven years, and is responsible for overall management of the College. He is the Company Secretary and charity correspondent.
 
Ian's career as a pharmacist began in community pharmacy in Northern Ireland. He subsequently worked in hospital pharmacy in Belfast and Zambia, before moving to Oxford as a staff pharmacist in 1975. He moved through the ranks in Oxford and was District Pharmaceutical Officer for 9 years. Following NHS reorganisation in 1991, he had a portfolio career for 10 years, working as pharmaceutical adviser to Oxfordshire FHSA, Professional Secretary to the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists and the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists, and an expert adviser to the European Commission.
 
Ian has chaired a number of pharmacy organisations, including the Society of Pharmaceutical Students of Northern Ireland, the Oxfordshire Branch and Chiltern Regional of RPSGB, the Local Organising Committee for BPC 1993, and the Pharmaceutical Advisers' Group. He was designated a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 1997, awarded the Gold Medal of the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists in 2003 and admitted to the Freedom of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in 2006.

Professor Anthony Smith
 
Anthony Smith took up his post as Principal and Dean of the School of Pharmacy, University of London in 2006. He is Chair of the Council of University Heads of Pharmacy ( www.cuhop.ac.uk ).
 
Anthony was designated a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in 2006 and he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
 
Anthony is a member of the RPSGB's Adjudicating Committee and Accreditation Team and he was appointed to the MHRA Chemistry, Pharmacy and Standards Expert Advisory Group in 2007.

Richard Wells
 
Richard Wells qualified as a Pharmacist in 1982 having studied at Leicester School of Pharmacy.
 
Richard's early career was with Boots and then in independent pharmacy before joining Weldricks as a branch Manager in 1994. He completed a post graduate clinical diploma in 1999, whilst working as an area support pharmacist and became Superintendent pharmacist of the Weldrick group in November 1999. In that time the company has expanded from 30 branches to 55.
 
Richard is currently Doncaster LPC Chair and is a former PEC member in Doncaster PCT.
 
Richard is married to a fellow community pharmacist, and they have 2 daughters aged 23 and 21.
